SOLD OUT - The Way Out

Fringe Festival Performances on Thursday, October 1, Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Tangle’s aerial storytellers present The Way Out — immersive, 100% socially distanced performances for a drive-through audience, part of the 2020 Fringe Festival. This unique site-specific show unspools across 78 acres of Laurel Hill Cemetery on Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, October 3, 2020. The Way Out is an evening of performance made for the pandemic — collaboratively created by Tangle’s aerial dancers and some of Philadelphia’s most compelling performing artists, including musicians, dancers, kinetic sculptures, live glassblowing demonstrations, and beyond.

The Way Out speaks to a central dynamic of the pandemic — we’re trapped in our houses, in our responsibilities, in our bodies, in our fear. Yet we’re released from some of our typical roles, from our normal experience of time, from usual social expectations,” says Tangle founder Lauren Rile Smith. “The show’s unusual format of a rolling, immersive performance mirrors this sense of movement inside a maze, with answers in unexpected places.”

These 50-minute drive-through performances will begin at the Laurel Hill Cemetery’s Gatehouse at 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132. Cars will drive through 5 performance stations and exit at the Hunting Park Avenue gate between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available through the Fringe Festival Website and are $100 per car, for any number of people within the car. Click on the Purchase Tickets button to be taken to the ticketing page.
