Members-Only Walking Tour at Laurel Hill on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 6:00 pm
Members-Only programs are exclusive to active members of the Friends of Laurel Hill & West Laurel Hill Cemeteries. As a benefit of your membership donation, supporters are invited to get a view of both Laurel Hill Cemetery and West Laurel Hill Cemetery that no ordinary visitor will experience with special programs, lectures and tours.
William Shakespeare created larger-than-life characters. Laurel Hill is the final resting place of larger-than-life characters with Shakespearean connections. Hear the story of the scholar who used Yorick’s skull to expose fraudulent mediums; the judge who turned a sonnet into an annual tradition and the opera star who could legitimately say that he not only sang songs by Shakespeare, but that he sang Shakespeare.
This walking tour includes a complimentary solid chocolate with one of our community partners, Philadelphia’s Mueller Chocolate Co. as a gift for all registered members.
The tour is free to active members only and will take place on Shakespeare’s day of birth and death, Friday, April 23, 2021 at 6:00 pm, departing from Laurel Hill Cemetery’s Gatehouse entrance at 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132. Limited free parking is located in the lot across the street from the Gatehouse.
Registrations must be purchased in advance. Early registration is strongly recommended. Space is limited, and tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please limit one registration per member. There will be no waitlists available for these programs.
